As we wrap up the year, we’ve been talking a lot about growth; from how we’ve grown over the last year to how we’d like to grow over the next few years. So how do we stay on top of our game here at ONE SOURCE? We use our resources and read, read, read!
Here’s what we’re reading:
Facility Management Industry Publications:
Building Services Management This is a monthly magazine focused on facility services. It covers products, services, building technology, best practices, and innovations for the facility maintenance professional. One of our favorite recent articles came from the November 2018 issue. Facilities as Strategic Assets: The Digital Transformation of Building Services talks heavily about the higher expectations of building occupants and how both vendors and customers view buildings as strategic assets associated with the success of the core business. We agree! And our strategic approach to building customized facility management programs is rooted in this idea.
Facility Executive Browse through this website and you might leave a facility management expert in theory… SERIOUSLY! The educational webinars, white pages, blog articles, and magazine have been a resource to our team as we all continue to grow and thrive in the facility services industry.
Business Focused Books:
Content, Inc. Recommended to us by Lindsey Mathieu, a member of our Board of Advisors and AEC marketing expert! We’re still working through this piece because honestly it didn’t take much convincing for us to start pushing out blog posts like this one. We love sharing our knowledge, experiences, and culture with everyone.
The Perfect Mix, Everything I Know About Leadership I Learned as a Bartender. Written by Helen Rothberg, PhD. Helen is a close personal friend, and mentor of ONE SOURCE Founder, Nick Lombardi – also on our Board of Advisors. She facilitated our annual off-site staff retreat back in October 2018 which was framed around the ideas in her book.
Personal and Professional Growth Resource:
Tribe of Mentors by Timothy Ferris This is the perfect coffee table book. It’s invigorating yet so easy to read in little bits and pieces. It’s subtitled “Short life advice from the best in the world” and was written by Ferris after a trying year that lead to a list of tough life questions that he asked both himself and a long list of idols. Ferris says “This book contains their answers — practical and tactical advice from mentors who have found solutions. Whether you want to 10x your results, get unstuck, or reinvent yourself, someone else has traveled a similar path and taken notes.” It’s easy to pick up and reference for inspiration.
